How your dining experience turns out depends very much on your dining company. At Miss K's kind invitation, I attended her alumni event which was hosted at the Peach Garden, at the Exec's Club. There was wine (the red was more enjoyable), canapés, and a ten course dinner which had among other items, highlights such as lobster noodles, scallop, and sea-perch. Yesterday's dinner was served with Peach Garden's consistent quality – enjoyable, not-too-pretentious food. But there was at the table also small talk aplenty, awkward pauses common with strangers seated together and polite smiles which on hindsight, probably masked undercurrents between old college mates. Haha. So once the clock ticked 9.30 we quickly found an opportunity to slip away. Off to TCC across the road, where we could shrug off the cardigans, fold up our sleeves, and tuck into simple delights that cost a fraction of the previous meal, and well, yak away freely. After witnessing how some people at the event appeared totally ill at ease with themselves, I think the last point – about being able to yak freely between friends while being yourself, was probably most important.

By the way, I read that one has to SMILE J J J when cooking so that the food feels 'loved' and doesn't get infused with bad mood. That's exactly what my mum tells me to do when making pandan chiffon or cooking kaya – always say good things while baking/stirring or the cake/kaya brew will surely fail.
