my meeting with dr v.b. materialised today at mcys.

the first inkling of meeting a minister, and not just any minister, but one of singapore's very promising ministers (im looking at a future pm, dpm or a foreign minister) was when the security guard had to unlock the lift catch and cordoned off the lift so that i would be alone in the lift. security concerns...

he was very warm, very nice and looks very youthful. i felt suitably humbled that someone so busy took time off on a morning to chat with me over breakfast. naturally, the conversation started with how i came up with the budget title and my rationale for it (i NEVER thought that being volunteered to volunteer during that forum would result in these other events). i must have repeated my story for the umpteenth time and i honestly felt quite sick of myself talking abt the budget *oh no, there goes another b word* . then came other questions which really required me to think before answering, and i was just relieved that i knew enough of the local current affairs to air reasonably intellectual opinions. but well, i might have come across as really stupid anyhow compared to him. -lol- he's really sharp, but he also speaks in a way that can put one at ease. somewhat like prof gary g.

hahaa.

on another note, his detailed plans on Comcare were unveiled today, and all these policies and programmes to help the needy and provide pre-school intervention were precisely what i had wanted to write in the public sector econs paper. and well, time to think of another topic... what i had wanted to write as suggestions actually came true! gOsh. so i was both glad and sad when i read the headlines this morning - glad cos the help is timely; sad cos there goes my paper. the second reason is really trivial compared to the first, which applies on a societal level and whining about it is quite silly and shows a lack of macroview.

but but but... how now?!? *groan*
