.birthdays are meant to be spent relaxing and having a good time and attempts to divert from these twin aims will fail.

so much for trying to do some work today, it totally didnt work. ended up paying the sleep debt, answering a few bday calls, talking to kor for an hour, chilling out with b-grp and finally celebrating my bday with my family in the evening.

woo hoo~

flowers did indeed drop from the sky - bright lovely yellow tulips to be exact - and surprised my dad who collected them, my mum who jokingly chided my dad for not giving her flowers, and me of cos. they brought a huge smile to my day, just the way u had intended them to *beams*

meeting up with bum, bertie and boonkiat was not really planned cos the two smu guys had project meetings today (egad! such hardworking freshies..hee), and i only told boonkiat abt it rather late. But as it turned out, boonkie ended up being the earliest of us all! we chilled out at dome@ sam, which has such a strong bookish charm that the nerd in me has affinity for, for just an hour or two before my family party started. meeting them was fun of cos, and the easy camaraderie never really changed since jc times. ooh yeah, and thanks to bertie for the pink & purple tulips (and for surprising me with them by dripping the water on the table in front of me *lol*) , bum for the mocha & carrot cake (with black sweet sauce pls) treat and boonkie who rushed down from hall on such a short notice!

anyway i arrived home slightly late and my hungry cousins who were polite enough to wait for me to start dinner burst into a happy bday song when i stepped into the house. haha so sweet rite? oh yeah, despite the fact tt they did so in order to start dinner immediately and get my bday song over and done with, it was still quite sweet in a humorous way. ma's culinary efforts and well-received dishes, wuyi's superb cocoa and cappucinno swiss rolls, the little girls' presents, grandma's funny attempt to put the ang bao into my layered tank top thinking that it was a pocket, and moon's gift of the coffee chocobeans which siyi gave to him (so it was his, and he was giving me something that he owned, so it's really from the bottom of his heart .. *lol*)

and to add to the list of birthday highlights from yesterday...

• chatting with dearie kaavie when she was back. the flower and toy ladybug are in my room!
• a simple and sweet looking bag from little matchgirl, courtesy of about.life. kudos to jacqi for being the one who chose it
• meeting bum, bertie and boonkie today
• 20 yellow tulips which dropped from the sky (where sky can probably mean london)
• a very special journal
• bday calls from kor,karan & aman
• bday greetings from dear friends and family members
• chatting for ages with qiong, who sang me bday song as well.. miss u!!!!
• surprise email from julia and friend from xiamen
• chatting with kor and coercing him into buying ben and jerry's as well as cheesecakes back from boston

ah so many blessings, so much to be cheerful about, so much to be thankful for.
