"maybe you're being surrounded by too many sad stories"

(after a long pause)

"i think you're right"

recent events that have unfolded remind me of the fragilities of relationships, the fickleness of love and the great contradiction between what we want, what we say, and what we do. The human capacity to hurt has once again surprised me. But maybe I shouldn't be so surprised. It all sounds familiar right? Perhaps as C said, it's a passage we all have to go through.

I feel so frustrated and angry with the way she was treated. People change, wants change, our paths may take different courses and it may be that some people find that they no longer share that same spark that brought them together, that what they had could not sustain their love, and what dreams they may have for the future would be better left unmaterialised. That's sad perhaps, not always. Afterall, you can'tkeep a person when he or she no longer wants to be kept. But there's a respectful way of doing things, and there's a hurtful way of doing things. How can you hurt the person you once loved so badly? And to add injury to insult, turn around and say that you still love him or her but you just don't want to be together. She said his logic just didn't hold. I couldn't help but agree. What a bitter end. It's awful and it's even worse when the people you think would be the ones least likely to do it, have done it. Doesn't that shake your confidence at least slightly?

We can be such fickle creatures. Or is it that we are sure of what we want, but are afraid to spell it out for fear of sounding selfish, socially unacceptable or hurtful? Then we go ahead and say what we think we should say and yet act contrary to our words. Brings back memories, and then again why am i so surprised. sigh.

It's tough not to be affected. It's just that...the news was just so disheartening.

I know and i am so so appreciative of what we have together now. The stable foundation, the exciting present and the hopeful future. I'm sorry to have brought tinges of shadow into my mood.
